The annual conference Kunst & Recht during Art Basel will have its comeback this 17 June after a two-year break due to the pandemic. Right in front of the world's most renowned art fair at Congress Center Basel MCH Messe Basel, a variety of speakers will discuss a wide range of issues including appropriation art, online sale platforms and NFTs, cancel culture and the new Swiss commission for cultural property looted during the Second World War.

I will have the pleasure to discuss third party guarantees at auction. Interestingly, New York law has recently been amended on this point. As a consequence, auction houses will no longer be required to disclose any financial interest in a lot. This highly topical subject as well as all other topics discussed that day will be part of a publication to be released at the end of the year.
