24 May 2018

The online legal resource platform Getting the Deal Through has just published a Q&A on art law. For each country, art lawyers have answered the most common questions arising when buying, selling and lending art and collectibles. Topics covered include: export and import controls; direct and indirect taxation; borrowing against art; intellectual property rights; agency; consigning items; auctions; spoliation during Nazi era; lending to museums; cultural patrimony; anti-money laundering; endangered species; and consumer protection.

The jurisdictions covered include France, Italy, Switzerland England & Wales, United States (New York and California), Spain, Turkey and China.

I was pleased to write the chapter pertaining to Swiss law together with my colleague Arnaud Cywie, expert in tax and customs law.

Pierre Valentin, partner in charge of the Art & Cultural Property Law Group practice at Constantine Cannon (London) is this publication's editor.
