Here are a few upcoming art law conferences to note:
27 April 2023 | Art Law: An entrance to paradise: From human authorship to artificial intelligence, from commissioning to creating art, from primary market to secondary, the NY Center for Art Law organises its annual conference around the following contemporary themes of the art law realm: Artificial Intelligence and Copyright Issues in Art; Artist Contracts and Commission Agreements with Contemporary Art Institutions; and KYC, AML & the Art Market Compliance. 3 May 2023 | How NFTs Revolutionize Art, Business and Entertainment: Edward Lee, Professor of Law at Chicago Kent College of Law, will speak about his book "Creators take control" and more specifically about "Tokenism," the rise of NFTs and the impact of NFTs in the art, business and entertainment industries. This conference is organised by the NY Center for Art Law and takes place online. More information here.

15 June 2023 | Art, Luxury Assets and the ‘Three Ds’: Debt, Divorce and Death: The Institute of Art and Law and Fladgate LLP will be hosting an afternoon seminar in London on how art and luxury assets are managed during the moments of great upheaval in life: namely debt, divorce and death – the ‘three Ds’. This will include discussions on the challenges that such moments present, in relation to joint ownership, division of assets and inheritance, but also ways of resolving them. The difficult question of valuation for art and luxury assets will be considered, both from a legal and an appraisal angle. Lastly, the seminar will cover cross-border issues, such as jurisdictional disputes and questions of restitution. More information here.
16 June 2023 | Recht aktuell: Art & Law 2023: The University of Basel will hosts its annual art law conference during the Art Basel art fair again this year on topics such as deaccessioning in U.S. art museums; the recent changes of the Cultural Property Transfer Act, museological attempts at mediation and representation and cross-border issues with recovering illicitly traded artworks.
